Affinity Studio begins with understanding the interface—panels, tools, navigation and creating new documents. You can add text with frames and full formatting control, place and manage images through embedded or linked files, and create shapes and objects. Layout work involves manipulating objects, using layers, guides, alignment, and applying effects. Colour is handled through swatches, global colours, gradients and print vs. digital settings.
You can manage multi-page documents with master pages, then export designs as PDF, JPG or PNG. Text styles ensure consistent formatting, while drawing, image editing, and features like text wrapping, tables, search and replace and spellcheck help refine your work.
Affinity Studio for Layout – Essentials is ideal for beginners and improvers who want to create professional layouts for print and digital without getting bogged down in complex tools. It suits students, small business owners and marketing, comms or design teams who need clean typography, reliable image placement, multi-page documents and confident export workflows.
No previous Affinity Studio knowledge is required. You should be confident using a computer and managing files and folders. Basic familiarity with documents such as flyers, brochures or reports is helpful but not essential.

You will firstly learn how to set up documents properly and work confidently with the Affinity Studio interface in the Affinity Studio for Layout – Essentials course. You will then build practical layout skills by working with text frames, typography controls, image placement, shapes and object alignment, guides and layers. Advance your new skills further by building multi-page documents with master pages, creating consistent formatting with text styles, then exporting correctly for print and digital use. The Affinity Studio for Layout – Essentials training course is designed to give you a clear, repeatable layout workflow you can use immediately after one day.
There is no official certification exam included for Affinity Studio for Layout – Essentials. You will receive a certificate of completion and course notes included in the course.
